About Eastern Promise.

Eastern Promise is a group of ladies from in and around Ilfracombe Who enjoy dancing as a pastime, a way of meeting people and of keeping fit. About three years ago we decided to take our dancing outside of the classroom and perform in public. We are not professionals we are just ladies who enjoy what we do.

Over the last three years we have performed at local events and in local hotels to raise money for charity. Some of our members have taken part in The North Devon Dance festival both in 2006 and 2007.  We have performed at Filliegh fete for 3 years running. At many of our events we try to encourage audience participation. This is well received and good fun. Our latest event was the lighting of the lights in Pyworthy, Devon, in aid of the Devon Air Ambulance.

Two or three times a year we hold a Hafla, which is an informal party where we come together with other dancers in North Devon and with family and friends. We eat, drink dance and be merry. Often on the day of the Hafla we will invite a professional teacher and dancer to hold a workshop which is open to all, for a small fee. The dancer may well then perform for us at the hafla.
